Platform-ZERO showcased at EU PVSEC 2025 in Bilbao

The Platform-ZERO consortium was actively represented at the EU PVSEC 2025 Conference and Exhibition, held in Bilbao, Spain, from 22–26 September 2025. The event, one of the most influential global gatherings for the photovoltaic community, provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate project results and engage with experts in solar energy research and innovation.

Our coordinator IREC (the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research) contributed significantly to the scientific programme. Within the symposium Advances in Chalcogenides Devices, IREC researchers delivered two oral presentations out of the five selected for the session:

  • “Towards the development of advanced in-line metrology for monitoring and accelerated research of thin-film PV devices”, presented by Maxim Guc.
  • “Explainable artificial intelligence driven methodology and accelerated research of thin-film PV devices”, presented by Víctor Izquierdo, coordinator of our Platform-ZERO project.

These contributions underlined Platform-ZERO’s innovative approach to metrology, artificial intelligence, and accelerated research for next-generation thin-film photovoltaic technologies.

In parallel, our partner ZSW (Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg) promoted the project during the exhibition. Platform-ZERO flyers were displayed at the ZSW booth, further strengthening the outreach to stakeholders across the PV value chain.

Below, we provide access to the presentation delivered by our project coordinator, together with some pictures of the event.

About EU PVSEC

The EU PVSEC is the largest international Conference for Photovoltaic research, technologies and applications and at the same time a PV Industry Exhibition, where specialised PV Industry presents technologies, innovations and new concepts in the upstream PV sector. It gathers the global PV community to present and discuss the latest developments in photovoltaics, to network and to conduct business. It is the world-renowned science-to-science and science-to-industry platform uniquely focused on the global PV Solar sector. The conference scientific programme is coordinated by the European Commission Joint Research Centre.

The over 40 year long history and the diverse programme of the EU PVSEC makes it a landmark event in the scientific PV sector.
